US Deaths - Covid-19 and Murder

Deaths from Covid-19 was 56 per 100,000, for a total of 186,855 dead, 2020 (First 6 months).

Death from Murder was 5 per 100,000, for a total of 15,498 dead 2018.

Murders are concentrated among the young and minorities.

Covid-19 deaths are concentrated among the old and minorities.

The President of the USA does not have a lot of control over murder. This is a local and State government problem and is very hard to correct. I don't blame the President for our murders.

The President of the USA does have a lot of control over public health including Covid-19. He directs the US Deparment of Public Health, the Public Health Service, CDC, etc. He should lead and galvinize US Response to the Pandemic.

The President should follow his medical experts and lead the country. He should develop a national plan to deal with Covid-19. We should have an enormous coordinated effort led by our national government to ensure adequate testing, contact tracing, masks, quarantine and social distancing. Instead we outsourced these descisions to the Governors and Mayors, with predictable uneven and ineffective response.

Small wonder they concentrate on the murder rate. Distract, obfuscate, redirect, spin, blame. Putin Playbook.

Sad.

Oh, well, This Too Shall Pass. And more quickly with new Federal Leadership. Or we can choose 4 more years of failure. Our choice.
