A friend sent me the graphic above, with the Caption:

The image is from Our World in Data which is an excellent site sponsored by Oxford University. I use if often. The publication's founder is the social historian and development economist Max Roser. The research team is based at the University of Oxford.[2]
This image is very misleading and the added headline make it dangerous misinformation. Our World in Data did not write the header. They may wish to delete this graphic since it is being used to spread disinformation which could result in the death of people who believe it.
Note the text in the header of the graphic, "Note the deaths in recent weeks might be undercounted."
The other images paint a bad picture for the USA and world for Covid-19.

Events in the Life of a 70 Year Old
The events above impacted the lives of people presently 70 years old.
For some of Polio was among our first memories when we were very young. Our wars have been sad events, with Vietnam our a major
challenge when we turned 18. HIV AIDS has been with us for 40
years. 911 was an enormous shock. And Covid-19 has made a very
major impact in only seven months.
USA Number 10 Out of 215 Countries
The table above shows that the USA is number 10 out of 215 countries for Covid-19 deaths per million people.

I read it again. Just 1 in 19 MILLION ! Hard to believe! The source is a video
prepared by One American News Network.
To show how stupid this is look at the table below prepared by the CDC. We will use the numbers from the 55-64 group, which is five years less than the group the OAN Video used.
CDC says there are 42,272,636 people in this age group.
According to OAN, there would only be 2 or 3 people dead from Covid-19 from this group. (42,272,636/19,000,000).
CDC says there are 22,254 dead from Covid-19 from this group.
So how many people listen or read this drivel and decide they don't have to be careful about the disease since there is very little risk? And then die?
A friend of mine laughed and said that there is no loss to the human gene pool when people this slow follow this crap and then die from it. But I think that is wrong. We should try to protect them from themselves. But it is difficult.
Mind boggling! Sad!

A friend sent this to me.

I read it again. Just 1 in 19 MILLION ! My friend doesn't usually include a source of the information. I found it by searching. It was a video prepared by One American News Network. The video talks about 50-64 year olds but makes it sound like it applies to everyone. They don't provide a source and never note that the info was compiled in May which is ancient history for Covid-19.
One American News Network is a conspiracy right wing propoganda site. Read what Wikapedia says about it.
The average American to date has had a roughly 1 in 1,640 chance of dying from Covid-19. I arrive at that ratio by dividing the US population of about 328,000,000 by the total number of Americans who haved died from Covid-19, which is 193,843 on Sep 12, 2020 according to John Hopkins.
I prepared the table below. The first two lines show the OAN "research". They seem to think only 17 people 50-64 people died.
The next two lines are from the CDC. They use their data for ages 55-64. A lot more deaths for a smaller age cohart.
The bottom two lines are for the entire country as of 911

The disinformation has been picked up by numerous right wing screwball sites. It is hard to believe they would all put out such terribly incorrect information. You wounder how many people believed this drivel and died because they decided the risk was minimal. The information has been repeated on numerous right wing sites. Some of them are listed on the bottom of this post.
You also wonder about the motivation for putting out such terrible wrong information. Alternatives Include:1. They authors are stupid2. It is Russian disinformation designed to keep the US divided. (OAN has some writers who also write for Sputnik}3. It is right wing propoganda, designed to keep their voters.4, Posting this Clickbate nonsense increases their viewership.5. ??? It really is incomprehensible.
I could find only one fact check on the information.

The paper, which is not new as it was posted June and studies a one-week period in May, has yet to be peer-reviewed and is not to be used to 'guide clinical practice,' according to a warning at the top of the pre-print publication. Also, the research has been updated, dramatically dropping the numbers presented in a widely circulated report. Moreover, the paper is an 'estimation' -- a hypothetical -- that acknowledges its numbers would be baseless if there were spikes in cases, which there has been. The ratio is per person contact, assuming a person only has contact with one other person."
